Japanese Currency - 05-13-2009, 11:36 AM

Ok I'm starting to get really confused with this lol the only reason I'm really asking is because I'm looking at alot of clothes on all Japanese sites, and of course their prices aren't in American Dollars. I've found one site that had it in 円 and another in ¥. I don't know what either of these mean? I know Japan has Yen but I'm kind of confused. One site has pants for 21¥, and I used a currency converter thing and did 21 Yen to US Dollars, and it was like 21 cents. So I sort of doubt that's right lol

円 = a Kanji character meaning Japanese YEN.
¥ = very generic arbituary symbol of YEN we know today.

And please don't confuse with the Chinese YUAN since it has a similar "Y" symbol.

Well, it won't go straight to the pants but it's the fourth one down on the Re-arrival section to the side

That`s definitely 21,000 yen.
It`s not unheard of to use . in place of , in some cases.

So - you`re not looking at 21 cent pants. You`re looking at $220 pants.

Japan is not known for being cheap, so the chance of finding something at that sort of price is pretty much 0.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

Assuming the word you'd intended to use was "arbitrary"...

Major currencies which are traded internationally have a symbol by which it is readily recognised on the market. The JPY's currency symbol is ¥.

Hahaha !

Yeah, it's better to take all the 0 in consideration when checking a price.

Gimme a stick and I'll make a masterpiece out of it, go figure.
