Japan Craft Tour - 12-08-2009, 05:30 PM

Country Workshops, a woodworking school located in western North Carolina, is hosting our 4th Japan Traditional Craft Tour. Dates are Oct 19-29, 2010. Anyone interested in traditional crafts is welcome to join the group; you do not have to be a woodworker.
The tour will be in Gifu Prefecture, an area which is a treasure trove for handcrafts. Visits will include washi (paper) making, boat building, tansu (cabinetry), samurai sword blade making, ceramics and more.
Tour guides will be Osamu Shoji, founder and head instructor at Shinrin Takumijuku woodworking school in Takayama and Masashi Kutsuwa, lecturer at Gifu Academy of Forest Science and Culture located in Mino City.
We will stay in a mix of traditional ryokans and western style hotels. Group size is limited to 12 members. The tour begins and ends in Gifu, just inland from Nagoya.
I will be tour host.
