what to do about Freeters? - 01-04-2010, 03:25 PM

Once bohemians, artisans, and those "chasing thier dream"

yet now a large and disenfranchised section of society.

largly uneducated, with little or no rights and often still living with/free loading off mum and dad.

some trapped in self made prisons, with no human contact bar the internet and thick curtains drawn to permanently shut out the sun.

even those that do venture out into the workplace recieve little pay, have no prospects for promotion almost no rights and are forced to do the crappy jobs of cleaning etc..
even many of the traditional "working class" jobs have been exported elsewhere

perhaps a larger shift in social policy (legislation from the top).

I have heard whispers that the gov. is planning to take action, as more and more of the japanese youth are trapped in the "freeter cycle" and to combat the epic "Brain drain" that is in effect on Japan as we speak.
(by making a change to "temp" employment legislation)

I really feel for these people, as there is very little hope for them.
on the tiny sum of money how can they hope to start a family?

these people are destined to achieve nothing in thier lives,
to quote a poor freeter couple
(scraping together enough to live in a tiny one room apartment)
"we are poor you know, not special poor, just poor"

freeters already have a Union, but with no real legislation to protect them, does it have any real power?

what should the gov. do about this problem?

does anyone have any opinions on this?

i wonder if this is news to some?

Ummm . . . Honestly Nyu knows some American freeters in America even they are looked down on by society. Nyu hates to sound cheesy but they should just keep hoping, keep trying to move up in society no matter what. Even IF they end up getting no where in ze end, society can't look down on them because atleast they really TRIED That's all you need to live in this world, Effort and percevierence and good will.

"You only harvest what you sow."

Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like.
