Do Japanese have much Ainu blood/genes?

Was intermarriage ever accepted or would it been frowned upon?

Let me guess, you were reading something about Nakoruru from Samurai Showdown?

Most Japanese barely even know what Ainu is. There is still a few in Okinawa but most never admit to being Ainu.

My blog about living in Japan, photography of random stuff in it and all types of other shit.

I think you mean Hokkaido, not Okinawa.

Japanese students have to study about the Ainu pretty in depth, so everyone is aware of Ainu and the other historical ethnic groups that make up modern Japan. There are units dedicated to it in Japanese history.

As for numbers... Who knows. It`s pretty doubtful that any full Ainu remain - all being mixed in some way over history. The main groups trying to preserve heritage and culture are in Hokkaido.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

Yeah, woops. I mixed them up because they are both like outsiders to Japan. I really do not know much about them simply because I just don't hear about them at all, and it is really not a big deal.

Children study about Ainu in every aspect of their curriculum when they go to Junior High School, even in their English classes. Fair enough, the lessons set-out in the text books are absolutely s***e, but still they do get a flavour of the Ainu culture with regards to food, language and lifestyle.

I had never heard of Ainu until I worked in a JHS out there.

Back to the OP's question - all you needed to do was google this as Columbine said.

Ainu people - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ainu language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ainu History and Culture
Ainu

I have not read these, but tis the first 4 on a google search.
