Gap Year

Have any of you been abroad, volunteered during your GAP YEAR.

Maybe you can tell us about it. It seems a great opportunity.

The Gap year thing is how I was originally able to come to Japan. I had graduated from high school a bit early so was able to be considered a GAP student, and to attend a Japanese high school with students of my age. I didn`t do it through any program - it was a private arrangement with the high school - but it made it very easy as I did not require the credit as a normal exchange student would, so did not have the same requirements placed on me for tuition and other fees.

I had actually never even heard of the Gap system before coming to Japan and being placed in that position.

What's a gap year?

The year after you graduate or something?

It is usually a year taken off to do something after high school graduation and before entering university.

I haven't read any of the links yet, but it sounds very interesting, something I might do :O
