Japanese Kanji on Bayonet - Anyone able to translate? - 01-05-2011, 02:36 AM

Hi all, I recently acquired a Japanese WWII Bayonet, and there is a leather tag attached with some lettering on it. I'm curious if anyone is able to translate it / tell me what it means? Thanks!!

Here's a photo:

Leaf half says "Okuaki", which should be the owner's family name.

Right half is "7862", which would be his troop number.

There seems to be a character on top right which is kinda blurred. I don't think it's of too much importance, though.

Type 30 bayonet
The state of the sheath is good.

奥秋 okuaki
Family name maybe.....

七八六二 7862
military service numbers

The character written in the figure cannot be read.
Perhaps, branch of the army is being written.
