Help With Translation

Hi all,

I am looking with some help in getting a piece of Asian script translated into english. Firstly, I need to identify which language this the piece of writing is.

Below is an an image which shows the signature of a brass rubbing that I have inherited - I am looking to find out a bit more of where it came from and when.

Can anyone advise on which language this is - or even help with the translation?

I have also included an image of the rubbing which I have recently had framed for those who may be interested.

Many thanks
Joe

guardian deity

It is a picture of China.
北魏石刻
青龙及守护神

北魏 Northern Wei
石刻 stone carving

青龙(JP:青竜or青龍) Azure Dragon
守护神(JP:守護神) guardian deity

It is uncertain whether it is the one carved for where.

Wow - thank you for taking the time to respond.

How did you come across the same rubbing at that website?

It retrieved it by Google and Baidu.:)
Google
http://www.baidu.com/

Some Chinese characters were not able to be read when honestly saying.
The Chinese character that was able to be read is input and it retrieves it.

"北魏石刻" 青 及守 神

The Chinese character that was not able to be read is a Chinese character used only in China.
Look for the character string that looks like.
There were a lot of search results and I gave it up though there was an interest though I did not know where to have been carved.
