Help translating Japanese Porcelain Mark - 08-15-2011, 03:37 AM

Hi everyone. I recently purchased this piece at a local estate auction. I have searched for HOURS trying to decipher this mark, but unfortunately, I know nothing about reading Japanese, so about as far as I have come is thinking I might recognize a couple of the characters. If anyone can PLEASE help me translate the mark, I would be forever grateful! Thank you for your help!

Not that every character is legible, this is the only possibility that I could think of and it makes sense in me.

The larger kanji is "Asahi", probably the porcelain maker's name.

"Asahi
Nagoya, Japan"

and 旭 means "morning (rising) sun". One of the characters is unreadable to me as well.
