excuse my newness to this forum but ive tried the search and cant find an answer to my question

is it true that japanese scrap yards are full of "old" electronic equipment (vcrs mobile phones and such)?


forget that the "third" world also watches tv computers and such (car engines might be of use too, generators?)



but at least cant old mobile phones go to such places?

im sure its easier to erect one radio mast in an area than to lay miles of cable to each home to provide "normal" phone coverage?
