Sexy ? or Erotic ?

I had been believing that there is no difference between sexy and erotic.

The other day, Japanese TV show told me "In western culture, sexy is one factor of beauty and erotic is a behavior to temptate another gender".

It is true ?

If it is true, when western girl wears sexy clothes in Japan, Japanese people will misunderstand she is erotic.

"Sexy" can be used to describe a person, a dress or bathing suit, or even a car. "Erotic" is more of a description of something happening, like an erotic dance, eating something in an erotic way, or even an erotic song. A swinger's club may have an erotic atmosphere, using colors, lights, and music which try to encourage an erotic mood (don't ask me how I know this).

I do not really understand well yet why sexy and erotic are different.

Isn't it erotic behavior to wear sexy clothes?

No RadioKid dressing sexy doesn't mean being dressed in erotic way is simply a sexy dress but this doesn't mean erotic things.
Sexy is less than erotic in a scale .
Erotic is stronger than sexy .
Erotic is more related to a mood.

I guess, erotic is more emotional and also a bit more "civilised". It does give you a tickle but it doesn't have to be vulgare and concrete. Over all, it is a category which includes sexiness.

Sexy might be more in-your-face and for the purpose to turn you on.

mood ...... It depends on the personality and personalities are based on their culture. Different nationalities will cause different mood.

Sorry, I can not understand what Wednesday writes.

sexy: "This makes me feel horny", "I feel aroused", "I like it", "I want be with that Person (in bed)"

erotic: "this is sexy", "this is beautiful", "this is part of our life", "this is about a man/ woman and a man/woman", "I want to experience adventures"

That is my take onit, maybe I'm too much influenced by the German Standard. Or maybe the German Speakers disagree on that. Also, let's not Forget, that languages Change over time.

The difference is the question of intense ?

The TV show told me that when the same girl wears same swimsuits, she could be sexy sometimes or erotic other times according to her behavior. Is this common in western world?
