This number is not a joke as a matter fact its down right scary. That is the population of small to medium sized town. This is so sad im sorry but i dont live to work i work to live but this is just cultural difference i guess. But still its sad to see people kill themselves from work related stress. I work over 10 hours a day because i want to not because im forced too and sometimes stress gets to me but i have never thought about killing myself because it. Human life should be valued higher than this.

It's quite sad how, statistically speaking, Japan is one of the highest countries in the world with self-inflicted deaths, i.e., suicide.

Makes sense they'd make a suspense movie relating to suicide. No joke intended.

The color of the sala flower reveals the truth that is... To flourish is to fall. The proud do not endure.

Heaven or Hell, Let's Rock!

Like a passing dream on a night in Spring. The mighty fall at last, to be no more than dust before the wind.

i think the problems is VERY deep rooted.

in most cultures suicide is frowned upon...

in the UK it used to be Illigal!
in some countries if you commit suicide its the ultimate dis-honourable act... people who knew you will spit on your grave.

however in Japan there is a historical honour attached to suicide.
and the level of "status quo" worship amongst Japanese people is Scarily high...

just in general.... most Japanese get confused/agitated if you ask "why" 3 times in a row.... because this is not something that is done in Japan...
there is the way things are done...and thats just how it is...
your supposed to learn the system, not question it...

perhaps from this people end up feeling trapped...as they are not used to thinking outside of the 'done' way of things....
and so when there is no sollution within the 'done' way of things....
the only way out is seen as death....

perhaps if Japan were a more critical society...there would be less suicide
