French Teens Held Over Akihabara Video Games Scam - 03-06-2009, 01:58 PM

From the Japan Times:

Three French boys who attend an international high school in Tokyo have been arrested on suspicion of stealing video game consoles and software from venders and exchanging them for cash at used game shops in Akihabara, Japanese police said.

Once again a few bad apples will make all foreigners looks bad in Japan. Im glad they were caught its crap like this that drives up prices for games and consoles and makes it harder to trade in or sell games when you are done with them.

EB games now requires you to fill a bunch of paper work before you can trade games in and 2 forms of ID. Then they have to hold the game for X amount of time to make sure its not stolen. How a game shop will know if a game is stolen is beyond me.
