Mother held for starving handicapped son to death in Kumamoto - 04-08-2007, 08:29 PM

A woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of leaving her mentally handicapped son without food for about one month, police said. Sanami Kawasaki's 19-year-old son, Koichiro, was found dead in their home in Minamata, Kumamoto Prefecture, Wednesday evening, police said. They said they believe he was starved to death and apparently several days had passed since his death.

Kawasaki, 49, is suspected of neglecting to provide her son, who was unable to survive by himself, with food from early March. "My son was a burden for me as I have debts," police quoted her as saying. The two lived by themselves, with Kawasaki working as a sleep-over staffer at an inn in the city and going home on her break to take care of her son, police said.

that is so cruel.i hate that woman.DIE *cries*

well i kinda understand her...

but maybe it's a little cruel just to let someone suffer one month
without any food... she could shot him in the head or give him som poisen
instead... it is cruel to make someone suffer..

but it is hard having a vege..

Yeah, but this is what she said.

So i think a better solution would have been sacrficing herself for her son's sake to give him a better life... Death isn't really a good option in any case...

what do u mean.. sacrifying herself?
kill herself or what?
or maybe start to get money for having sex with other men so she could pay her debts?

Well, those're some ideas you got there. But I meant more towards not* neglecting her son and giving him everything she had, even if it means she'd have to die in place of her son.

again, thanks for the news update kitski...although it is really a very disheartening one...

hmm, there are a couple of things that makes me wonder about this news...

is there any orphanage or government-run child-care facility in Japan where a mother can surrender her child to because of her inability to take care of him/her? if there is, i think that mother who killed her own son should have at least tried that option...

and i'm also curious about the father...if he is already dead, then, i can understand the situation...but if he is still alive who abandoned his wife and his kid to their fate, i think he should be partly responsible for the death of their son...
