I belive if you are a U.S. citizen all you will need is a passport for stays less than 90 days.

If they had job there they wouldnt be tourists.. would they? lol

MMM 12-04-2007 11:21 PM

All US citizens need is a passport. They'll give a 90-day visa stamp at the airport.

If you stay for 90 days you may NEED a job, though.

vlady 12-04-2007 11:56 PM

guess i wont make a new thread for this question so il post here:)

In this summer me and of my friends wanna go to japan or mexico..were gonna flip a coin a see witch part of the world will end up this summer:))

So if its gonna be japan need some basic info like:

How much does the beer(or you know sake since were gonna be there:) ) cost there in decent clubs not looking for expensive stuff:),in a 3 star hotel how much would it cost me for a night..and is the food expensive around there?:)Like could you eat good for a day for lets say about 30 euros/per day?:)

Oh and im thinking as a town Tokyo?

Wagamama 12-05-2007 11:33 AM

i thought promise was yaksoku(dont how how to spell the tsu in english here) and yummy=oishi?

NatsuNatsu 12-05-2007 08:30 PM

Really?! You can stay for 90 days?!

That's so awesome ^^

I want to go to Japan in either 2008 or 2009....This REALLY helps!

Is there any easier way to learn Japanese...or is a translator necessary?

jasonbvr 12-06-2007 07:49 AM

1,200 USD or less for the plane ticket, roundtrip. Then about 70 to 100 USD for each day you want to stay. It can be done for less, but this is probably the safest budget to estimate. It is for a place to stay, food to eat and some money to travel and buy stuff.

USD means US Dollars in case you were unaware of that.

Forgive me for this but I couldn't resist; lol... An old friend of mine who I no longer talk to wanted to visit me while I was staying in Japan. He lives in California U.S.A. and he also wanted to know how to get to Japan from California. However, his question was completely different. He wanted to know what bus he should take if he wanted to go from California to Japan. Omg, that made my head hurt just remembering that.

Hatredcopter 12-06-2007 08:44 AM

You don't really need to know Japanese to be a tourist there for a short stay. No need for a translator or anything like that. Many hotels and tourist destinations employ people who can speak English. However, the general rule is that the further you go from the major cities (especially Tokyo), the less English-speakers you'll find.

Compared to what? The easiest way to learn Japanese is by class or tutor (a REAL tutor, not some random person over the internet).

Housetek 12-06-2007 07:31 PM

for the love of....

Read my Guide to Tokyo. search a bit.

i go over every thing you ask.

From prices on tickets and apartments, budgeting, and languages.

For the most part every thing in japanese has english right under it so you dont have to read kana or kanji.

Subways and Busses are easy to use. All else fails just use taxis.

American visa gets you 90 days in japan.

Air fair around this time of year can go from 600 to 1500 dollars and in the summer around 2000.

if you read the guide i talk about ways you can get tickets in the 600 range.

i even go over the weight per bag of luggage on certain airlines.

Mostly its 2 bags 22 Kilos each or about 50 lbs or somthing. plus one carry on.

i go over Daily budgets, cost of food, money conversion, also where to exchange money. and what days to do so to get the most for your buck.

people need to stop beingg lazy and read.

READ THE GUIDE Thank you.

SFO you Fly to Narita

you take skyliner to pretty much any where in Tokyo or you can take the train
it will cost you 3,000 Yen or roughly 28 dollars.

no need for translator

you'll pick up a few lines here and there.

japanese is very systematic and is easy to pick up.

do your self a favor and buy books to learn a lil bit.

at least Attempt to learn the language of the country you are visiting.

O_O

Whao, sorry XD

Didn't mean to upset you ._.

Housetek 12-07-2007 02:58 AM

not upset, but people claim to Search the forums for information when they totally skip the front page full of posts.

also if you actually do a search the same questions have been answered over and over. Hence why i put it into one complete guide.

heres the reason why i say stuff about that.

Say you have 2 REALLY good informative posts on japan. covers many questions.

then instead of people reading those posts. they ask a bunch of the same questions answered time and time again.

the 2 posts that should be stickied * but no mod* or are in the front page where its easily found get knocked out and constantly need bumps.

im more then happy to ask specific questions, but if its been answered b4 its good to keep the useful threads up.

You missed the point of my comment. I happen to know that there is the Pacific Ocean between Japan and America. My former idiotic friend still does not understand this. He still believes that he can get on a bus and ride it from America to Japan. I saw the title on this thread and it made me remember my idiotic friend's notion that's all.
