Since you will be there so long, schedule time apart from each other, too, even if it is you see a movie while he goes to a museum, or vice versa.

Even if my best friend was the cleanest coolest guy in the world, sharing a bed room annd 90 meals in a row doesn't sound inviting at all...

or we could all help you out when you're in Japan??

just my personal opinion, but perhaps your friend might be more anxious and stressed out than you, seeing that everything is so new to him and knowing that he needs to be extra extra careful with everything and everyone, especially with you. Feeling like that for 3 months is certainly going to spoil the whole vacation. i'd say give him some slack and believe in your childhood friend - come what may. Nonetheless, MMM is right, you prolly need some time away from each other in between. You guys are taking separate rooms, i assume??

so many places.. so many people to meet.. only 365 days to do it all!

That guy doesn't get nervous around anything, I've seen him stare down 6 thugs with oh so much confidence (granted he got his nose broken but still...)
He's just got such a stereotypical view of Japan....fine I only have my grandpas stories and books (and anime & manga!) but I still have realistic expectations.

His checklist is basically: Fool around with swords, be served food, buy japanese armor and then eat some more.
I keep his hopes up of course...he's my friend

This whole thing isn't really a question but...any comments on my situation would be quite nice
