Advise on clothing for Hokkaido Trip - 12-25-2007, 12:41 PM

Merry Christmas Everyone,

Planning to go Hokkaido for 3 days in the New Year Holiday. I need some advise on the type of clothing that I should wear in Hokkaido.

What I am intending to wear in Hokkaido is as followed
One UniQlo inner wear top and bottom piece
One thin sweater
Normal jacket

Outer jacket that come with a vest

And of course a pair of jeans.

Would that be enough? Or should I get a premium down jacket from UniQlo that cost almost 8000Yen.

UniQlo is also selling polyester glove at 1000yen. Would those be enough? Or is there anyone that can recommend to some shop in Osaka where I can get one decent one below 5000yen.

Regards,
Linus

I think if you include a hooded sweatshirt (to keep your head warmer and give you 1 more layer you can put on or take off as needed), you should be ok. Much of our body heat is lost through the head.

Ya, I be bring alonging a winter cap and scarf with me.

One more layer. Ok ok. note taken. If I get the down jacket with hood, is it ok if I don't wear my outer jacket shown in the picture and the extra piece that you mentioned?

I've never been to Hokkaido myself, so I'm not saying necessarily to buy the down jacket. But even in central Honshu, it got VERY cold some days, even snowed. Other days in winter it wasn't bad at all. So it's really somewhat variable, which is why I suggest wearing layers that you can add or remove as needed.
