Whisky anyone?

Yea, whisky. Do not buy it and bring it too Japan.

They have all of the top brands at less then the duity free selection. I have seen a bottle of JD for 2k yen, that is 10 GBP or 20 USD.
They have Chivas, J.Walker, Fiddich and all of the rest for less then you will pay at duty free.

I bought three bottles of various whisky with me from duty free only to see them MUCH cheaper in a Japanese liquor store. Let me tell you this, It is cheaper for me to drink JD then beer!

What size of bottle are you talking about?

odonata 04-16-2008 03:13 PM

Well all of the DF are at 1L and the bottles here are at 750cl.

Let me break it down on a bottle of Chivas. My 1L bottle of Chivas cost me 20 gbp or $40 or 4k yen.
I walked into a shop an saw a 750cl bot of Chivas for 2.3k yen

I was mugged as per usual by the UK tax system.

Jack Daniels et al isn't very palitable whisky/whiskey, and certainly worse than the Japanese single malts like Yamazaki 10 by Suntory.

Do they sell quality Whiskey in duty free like Bruichladdich, Balvenie, Ardbeg, Aberlour, Laphroaig, Tamnavulin etc ?

If not, better off getting something quality (and surprisingly cheap) by Suntory.

You can find pretty much anything you want. There are duty free shops and sections in many department stores, and some of them have incredible selections. As for garden variety whisky, you can buy it by the gallon in grocery stores for cheap.

lmao. Who would bring alcohol when traveling anyway. XP Sweded!

Henbaka 09-10-2008 05:56 AM

Heh. If alcohol was availible in Sweden as it is here, I don't think society would last too long... ;)

Just give me some crown royal and ice and I'm fine. In fact I'm going to make one now.
