In Akihabara go into one of the many adult software shops and grab a handfull of game flyers (normally by the exit). These flyers are well presented and also quite naughty. They also take up very little space in your luggage.
Ha ha ha, or those little "free info" booth that gives out inches thick of guide books for adult entertainment

Head out of Akiba station (electric town SOUTH) and turn right at the road. Go into the AZO BIT on your right (about 80 yards down) and check out the EGG MACHINES on the ground floor. These are the things that you put in some yen (¥100/¥200/¥300 or ¥500 for hentai) and get a plastic egg with a gift inside after turning the handle.
This Azo Bit has some good gifts that you don't find in other areas.

Plastic food - 07-13-2008, 05:20 PM

The souvenirs I've bought back from Japan which most fascinated my friends were those plastic food models most restaurants have on display outside. I only know one place in Tokyo where they're sold, in Asakusa on Kappabashi street. All the stores there cater to the restaurant trade, you can buy beautiful Japanese crockery, signs, cutlery etc. There are also a few shops who sell traditional Japanese kitchen knives which would also make a good souvenir. There are a few stores which sell the plastic food, they're really amazing. The stuff isn't cheap though, a piece of maguro sushi is about 1000 Y, a mug of beer around 3000, definitely worthwile to go see though.
