Possibly visit Japan soon. ^_^ - 01-16-2007, 10:17 PM

My school is going on a trip to Japan. 10 people- 3 adults, 7 students. There are about 40 kids interested in going, but most won't have the money, and some will be underqualified. Hopefully I'll get to go. ^_^

It's a sister city exchange. Shelbyville to Kambara. We'll spend four days with a "brother" or "sister" in Kambara, and the last two days in Tokyo. We're going in March.

So has anyone here spent time in or around Kambara?
or have any favourite places to visit in Tokyo?

I'm really excited.

but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. >_>;

Back in those days,
I didn't really know how to love anyone...
but I wanted to much to be loved.
It breaks my heart to think about it.
If I'd only been more mature back then,
and realized what your weaknesses were...
would things have been different now?

Kambara? What prefecture is that in? It has a really strange spelling too, the only stand alone consonant in Japanese in the "N." I've never seen any other double consonant, but when I googled it the weather came up so I guess it is a city somewhere over here.

Please allow me to introduce bit of history of Japan.
Kambara,located in Shizuoka pref., is one of 53 post‐town(or stage) on Tokai road (Tokaido 53 tsugi).

In 1601,Shogun Tokugawa plans building of road from Kyoto to Edo (Tokyo) to unite the reins of government. Between the two cities they built post-town called "shukuba machi". When Tokugawa or other governer sends a messenger or parcel on horse,they will stop at post-town and they rest over night,change horse and moved on the next day. They pass on messages and parcel to one from other along the way to either Edo or Kyoto. It was called "shuku ekidenma system". The name Ekiden is used for long‐distance relay road race world wide now.

Kambara is 15th post(147Km) from Edo (Tokyo). You might have seen the picture of Ukiyoe by Hokusai.
