Eating in Japan - 02-23-2009, 07:15 PM

Hello Dears,
I'm going to Japan in the fall to stay with my uncle for a while, but I've been a vegetarian for seven years now and don't want to stop my veggie loving diet while I'm there.
I know of some vegetarian restaurants, but I'm still a little worried about my diet...
Last time I went to visit they thought a vegetarian meal meant a meal with at least one vegetable...in English vegetarian is someone who eats no meat D: My America family neighbor is a vegetarian so it's easy for me here.

Does anyone know of some common meat-safe meals and restaurants in Japan?
I'll be staying in Tokyo most of the time, but I'd like to visit some friends in Kyoto and Osaka as well.

There is food forum but this is more restaurant asking?
Thanks~

But were you aware that the dipper for cold soba was made with fish stock?

Not all of them right? Some of them are just basic soy sauce.. or you can always eat soba with no sauce and only sprinkle some seasame and nori on it

But cold soba with the dipping sauce is the best thing ever

I think you should make your sushi with: rice, carrot, other vegetables. It also good because I have done that before and it tastes delicious!
