Confused Dane

Hi there.

I'm 18 years old and live in Denmark (the country right over Germany)
I would like to travel to Japan for 14 days later in this year by myself to experience the japanese culture.

Would it be possible to chat with one in Japan and maybe stay with that person for a few days to experience the culture in that way to? Or isen't the country that open? If it's possible, where would it be the best place to find a japanese person who can speak english?

Would be great to have an MSN address on someone from Japan, so please feel free to contact me.
Greetings from Denmark.

In general I would say Japanese are not that open to having strangers/foreigners crash in their homes. School exchanges and things are OK, but urban Japanese homes don't tend to have too much extra space.

Then i guess my chances ain't big that way. Is there any other alternative?

Hotels, youth hostels, 24 hour Internet cafes...

Seems like the only way is to spend a lot of money.

But, what are the chances to find someone or a family from Japan, that i can stay with for a few days?
I'm pretty hooked on trying that. :D

You mean find on this site? There are probably less than a dozen regular posters who are actually in Japan here, so not high.

CouchSurfing seems pretty big in Japan, so if you're after free accommodation that might be an option. I haven't used the site before but from what friends have told me there's a karma system, so you will need to allow other people to crash at your place in return.

Hi their!

Yes, always plenty of homes in Japan that would be very excited about meeting a young lass from Denmark:)

Go to this site:
HomestayWeb - Find a Homestay family in Japan

By the way, Kyoto is a very nice part of town;)

How do you know the forum member's gender when there's nothing indicating such in the profile or this thread? Really, this propensity to chase after women in the forum is getting quite disturbing.

MMM 05-24-2009 11:37 PM

Please, gentlemen. Don't start.

Like I said, the link I posted will afford the girl/boy a possible chance of homestay.

Hope that clears your curiosity up:cool:
