I am not familiar with guest houses around Kyoto, but I am going to say that 2500 is probably about as cheap as it gets. That sounds even a bit shockingly low to me for a guest house.
There may be something out there for 100 or 200 yen cheaper, but I think you`ve probably found the very bottom of the price scale.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

2500 is about as cheap as you can go - 06-03-2009, 09:09 PM

I agree with Nyororin about price. 2500 yen is about as cheap as you will find. Tour Club Kyoto has some nice reviews and is cheap. Also Kyoto Hostel has a list of ultra cheap lodging.

Their is a place near Kyoto station named the 'Whitehouse'.
Kyoto Eki-mae White House in Kyoto - Kyoto Hostels
they also have a smaller place in a backstreet leading to the station..
ryokan kyoto inexpensive ryokan kyoto hotel,KYOTO WHITE HOTEL
My friend from Thailand stayed their when she visited me..

You can't go wrong.. My friend stayed at the smaller place, by memory, around 2'000 Yen per night dependant on the room you choose..

Of course, you cannot beat the convenience factor in this location for a hop to the Shinkansen or a basket full of Nato

Cheers - Oz
