buses in osaka

so i really want to go to this concert in osaka in august. it starts at 630 pm, but my dad is telling me that buses in osaka stop running at around 8ish at night. is this true? does anyone know a site that shows bus times within osaka? i've only found sites about highway buses that link osaka to other cities. thanks.

Well don't take my answer for the only answer, but im pretty sure when we went to the Tigers game we definitely were on a bus, and it was definitely later than 8. I kind of thought most of the big cities were around 11. Or at least that is the time that seemed consistent for the cities we were in.

I don't know of anywhere with the schedules posted. And again, this is just what my experience was, I do not know for fact that they always run until 11.

Subways run until midnight. I always took the subway over buses.

The only reliable thing I can think of is the Osaka Municipal Transport Bereau. They have a dual language website here: http://www.kotsu.city.osaka.jp/index.html on which you can look up the schedules direct if your japanese is good enough. Sadly the english section only talks about the subway BUT, failing that they have an office you could go to in person or call and ask, it's in Namba.

<Subway Namba Station>
(06) 6211-9503
Weekdays : 9:00~19:00
Sat., Sun., & Holidays : 10:00~19:00

Information is available regarding the Osaka Municipal Transportation services (subways, New Tram and city buses), tickets and more.

And it says they provide information in English as well. Hope that helps :)

Here is a page of highway buses from/to Osaka.

http://www.hyogonet.com/bus/hw/hw_osaka.html

Unfortunately, it is only in Japanese but you can use translator at http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/ following the instruction below.

i forgot to mention i'll be in sakai, osaka. it's about an hour away from osaka city and TOTAL countryside. :x

If you're in the countryside, then yes, it's quite likely the buses will stop early. Again the municipal office might have information; but the best thing you can do is find a bus schedule to check. If there are no buses, you're looking at shelling out for a taxi cab. They're safe but you might need to book it in advance if it's a long way, and you're looking at spending a lot on it. I used to live in Hirakatashi (halfway between Osaka and Kyoto) and last year it was recommended to carry a spare 10,000 bill in case you got stuck in the city. I mean, that's the kind of fare you're looking at, if it's that kind of distance.

Sakai an hour away? Maybe if you are walking with a cast on....

Sakai (red) is right below Osaka city itself. That whole area is urban, and just minutes from Osaka. You have to cross the border into Wakayama-ken to be 1 hour from Osaka... because it took me 55 minutes from Hashimoto-shi, where I lived, to Namba station.
