Is itinerary alright?

I am going to Japan for 36 days. I could probably see the whole country in that time, but I don't want to travel for very long trips.

10 Nov- arrive at Narita airport in evening stay the night in hostel there (booked)

Nov.11- go to Tokyo stay in Asakusa (booked only 1 night, but will stay in Tokyo another 5 nights)
Nov.17- Homestay in Matsumoto
Nov.28-Takayama
Dec.2-Yokohama
Dec.4- Kawaguchiko
Dec.7- Nagoya (includes a day trip to Ise Jingu)
Dec. 10-Kyoto (includes trip to Nara)
Dec.15- Osaka
Dec. 16- evening leave Osaka Kansai airport (flight booked)

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Please reply

Thank you

I think you forgot Hokkaido. This place is very beautiful

Yes I wanted to go there, but it is a 10 hour train trip. I figured I would have to stop a towns along the way. But if I did that it wouldn't fit in with other places. Also it would be too expensive for me.

You could add a daytrip to Himeji from Osaka, its only 1hour and the castle is huge!
I havent been in Takayama and Yokohama so i cant say anything to those.
Tokyo is worth 5 days,
Homestay´s are always a great experience
I personally found Nagoya not to interesting but we got someone who lives there who can tell you more
Kyoto and Nara together are also good with 5 days
try to get one more day in Osaka and visit Shinmachi (this is in Osaka) to see an oldstyle amusent district

Like i said, Himeji is also quite possible and only 1 hour from Osaka by local train (there a special Rapid for the same price 1500yen). If you get up early enough it can be a half day trip and than spend the evening/night in Osaka.

Have fun!

oh, if you get bored Kobe Harbour is quite nice as are the 2 nightspots on the mountains behind the city.

Thank you for the advice.
I have actually been to Japan once before for 2 weeks.
When I was there I saw Himeji castle and it was quite spectacular.
I also went to Takayama for one day, but there was something about it I really liked. The mountain scenery is beautiful and the relaxing sound of water.
My main reason for going to Nagoya is to take a day trip to Ise shrine.
Do you think I should spend only 2 nights there and an extra night in Kyoto?
