hostel living : why fun? - 01-29-2011, 01:50 AM

I'm looking to get a single room myself, but I have been reading older threads here and other places and lots of people recommend that staying in one is awesome.
Why is that? I haven't read anything bad about them. I would think living with 5-7 other people in a bunk room might be kind of not fun, but instead I see that people say its a "should try it out".

I guess it's the party time attitude?

Living with a bunch of other people might sound odd at first, but for me it was quite enjoyable, you get to share a place with people from all over the globe, I am by no means an "openly social" person, but it was great, I had planned on traveling alone, but ended up hanging out and traveling with my bunk mates during the entire trip, older people might prefer more privacy, I'm only 24 so I did'nt mind sharing a room.
