Working at Nagaoka? - 07-17-2011, 02:39 PM

Hallo everyone!

In the course of my PhD thesis, I will get the GREAT CHANCE to work for 2-3 months in Japan (Nagaoka, Niigata). Since I can remember I always wanted to go abroad for a while, especially to Japan.

Because Niigata is the prefecture next to Fukushima, I am really afraid to risk my health when I will work there (food contamination, radioactivity, etc). The time for staying in Japan isn`t fixed until now, but most likely I think it will be in summer 2012.

It would be really great and very helpful to me, if anybody could send me his/her estimation concerning a working period of 2-3 months at Nagaoka. Thanking you (very much) in anticipation!

Yours sincerely,
citau

If someone planes the mountain range, it might be a hazard.

Hallo siokan!

Thank you for your answer and the very interesting maps. Do you know where I could find similar maps, which are updated with current data? What do you think about contaminated food there - is it necessary to avoid specific food? Thx

Best regards,
citau

After the accident, the valve is opened and closed four times.
If the valve is not opened, it is not scattered in atmosphere.

Data of nagaoka-city (長岡市)
Real time

Data in July (excel)

I do not think that there is worry of contamination.
You should note the overeating and drinking too much.

Home of the most famous rice in Japan.
Fresh fish and shellfish.
The production of sake is also famous.
It is a dangerous area in the person who likes sake.....
