Personal Radiation Detector

Greetings everyone. I had been searching for a reliable personal radiation detector to buy in Japan. Are there any recommendations of stops or websites in Japan selling the detector?

Thanks.

Ebay has them too - either check ´'radiation detector' or 'geiger counter' -
Getting one of these is only one side of the coin. A dosimeter wouldn't hurt either. Take care...

If possible,I would like to buy from a shop in Japan instead of online ebay.Is there any shops in Japan selling radiation detector or dosimeter?

I would assume they are in high demand there....

Do you know any particular shops in Kansai region selling the radiation detector?

Gokiburi 08-06-2011 07:41 PM

Check

ガイガーカウンター, 放射線測定器, 線量計,のRADON-3 販売 - ガイガーカウンター 放射能測定器販売のRADONジャパン す。

But comparing prices in Japan to what they sell for anywhere else it seems some folks are capitalizing - again  - on other people's fears and misery...

Sure there's also a variety of websites with livestream radiation monitoring, but given the fact that Tepco wasn't exactly forthcoming with facts, I can understand perfectly that you wanna do your own personal monitoring.

Take care...

JF displays the title of links, which of course is the native language. If you want to display a different title, you will need to input it yourself. - Nyororin

Thanks a lot.

Are there any other websites like this?

I am sure there are cheap ones on sale in various places around the net, but I have posted in the past about the pointlessness of buying a detector, particularly a cheap one, in the past.
A poorly made, poorly calibrated detector is worse than worthless... And a proper one is going to cost you quite a lot, even outside of Japan.

As for finding one in Japan, if you are in Osaka - have you tried looking around Nipponbashi?
However, if you are in the Kansai region, I don't really think having one is going to do much for you....

Yeah, I had been searching in that area but my Japanese is very limited, hindering what I want to ask.

Why being in Kansai, having one is pretty useless?

Because there is absolutely NO radiation danger that far away from the nuclear power plants.

So also think about this......... not all that long ago Hiroshima and Nagasaki both had nuclear BOMBS exploded direclty above them. Tourists go to visit those cities without thinking about possible lingering radiation issues all the time.

best,
