2 days in Tokyo - accommodation help! - 10-30-2006, 07:54 AM

Hi everyone, new member here.

I am a student in Fukuoka, and before I want to go home I want to see Tokyo. I have 2 days to do it, that is, a weekend.

My question is, can anyone recommend some accommodation to me? It doesn't have to be fancy, just convenient.

Thanks!

What do you want to do or see in Tokyo? There are some nice hotels in Shinjuku, within walking distance of the station, but I don't think they are cheap. If you only have two days, I guess you need to find a place close to whatever it is that you want to do in Tokyo.

Are you planning to spend the time in the Shinjuku and Shibuya area or somewhere else?

Check out the hostel scene. I stayed in Azabu Juban, a short walk from Roppongi, with JR and subways in very close proximity... a GREAT location. I cannot recall the name of the hostel, but it was something like "International House" or something like that. It was approx. $30 usd for a night. The accomodations are military bunk style, and you could share the room with 10 others or get lucky and have it all to yourself. I slept a combined 4 hours in 4 days, so it didn't really matter to me. I just used it for the shower and the bathroom pretty much haha. Roppongi = many late nights

Stay in a capsule hotel. If you haven't been in one of these yet, the experience may be worth it. If you are female though, there are limited capsules that allow female guests because of the communal showers and bathrooms. I would go for the ryokan option if you are in the 7,000 to 10,000 budget range.
