train journey-england to japan - via russia - 07-02-2007, 04:36 PM

hey guys.

the other day boyfriend showed me this thing in the news paper where you get a train jounries from england all the way over to south koria, n eventully get a flight over to japan. these train jounry takes roughly 24 days altoghter.

this is how you get there:
london - paris
paris - berlin
berlin - warsaw
warsaw - minsk
minsk - moscow
yekaterinburg - novosibirsk
novosibirsk - irkutsk
irkutsk- ulan ude
urlan ude - ulan baator
ulan baator - bejing
bejing - shengyang
shenyang - dandong
dandong- pyongyang
pyongyang - seoul
seoul - busan


then u have arrived from there u get a flight to japan., yes this is going to cost alot!

but i was just wondering

has anyone on here done that? or somthing similar, was just wondering becuase it shounds like an amazing adventure n was just wondering of the acomedations and things

Sounds great but very expensive. I'd like to visit Vladivostok someday, and maybe some other parts of Russia.

im not quite sure what it is. it was jus in a news paper n had all the prices and places even how long it would take. some of them are quite a long time. i think one of them is 30 hours!

i know its going to be very expencive! im pricing it up this week n gunna try n get some hotels/hostels sorted, if any one knows any that would be greata great help!

anyone got any ways i can save/raise some money for this trip?

ooh noo i cnt do that! thats practicaly steeling! hehe

well if all goes well why dont you come along with us? could split the costs, maybe a little cheaper.

but ya know, jus a suggestion! coz ya know i cud be some kinda weird freek! (im not im really nice honest) ^_^

Will you be able to get out of the train on the stops, M? You need a visa imho, otherwise you will be trapped in the train... no fun

hmm yes this is very tru ex.
i think im gunna go to the travel agents in the near future n see what they can do for me, hopefully they will sort out the visa's or at least let me know how i can get em.

ooh i hope they are. in the paper i have it talks about sumthing called "sleeping cabins" so i assume they do.

ive never been in one before

well only at the rain museum in like york lol but that isnt real...technically
