Train Travel Questions
Hello everyone,
I have three questions: 1. Can the JR East Pass be bought only if you are staying in Japan as a temporary visitor for 15-90 days? I am staying in Japan for 12 days. 2. Does the Japan Rail Pass hold the same conditions? 3. Does the Japanese Subway system belong to the JR Company? Thanks in advance! Cheers, James |
Most of the subways in Tokyo are JR, some are not but I thought the rail pass works on all of them.
I don't really know the difference between the JR East pass and the regular JR pass. I thought it there was only one type of pass. |
The JR East pass can only be used within the EAST side of Japan, the detail info can be found in the JR site or japan-guide.com
And no Subways are not JR. Although Subway company and JR already have collaborations making it more convenient for the passengers, so you really can't know the difference anymore :D But Tokyo is dominated by JR so the pass is very convenient. |
Thank you very much for your help.
I was asking about the Subway because my hotel is closest to Shirokane-takanawa station. |
well it seems that there are 2 possible lines going to your station, one is Tokyo Subway Nanboku line and Toei Mita Line.
I don't know why but Subways in Tokyo seems to be cheaper compared to JR.. |
i dont think you can use any JR pass on Tokyo Metro or Toei Subway.
