Thanks Housetek for the hints . Have you got any other hints? The reason I'm asking is because me and my friend are planning to go for 2 weeks next year in summer and we might need a few hints about travelling and places to see.

Housetek, if you have any suggestions or hints about travelling to Japan...you can just PM or add me on MSN .

Thanks again

Wow, thanks for taking the time to post all of this. I had no idea about a lot of this stuff, especially the eating-sushi-with-your-hands tip, or the proper use of the ginger, or the picking-up-a-rice-bowl-to-make-life-easier. I always fumble with chopsticks over here in the US whenever I use them...

And I've always thought the arcade queue was a little intrusive. Some of my friends that play DDR do that, place something on the machine to call a spot, but I've never seen anyone do that with any other game (or at least they don't get enough of a crowd to warrant such a practice. Most arcades here are pretty much dead, like you mentioned.)

I finally sat down and read through all your tips and I just want to say: Thank you so much for taking time to post all of it! Me and my sister are going to go visit Japan together a few months into next year and I was going to post a thread to get some help with a few things, but your threads answered almost everything.. I was surprised. (I went to Japan by myself about a month ago and everything went horribly wrong. I didn't have a back-up plan for if my friend bailed and such, so I was left high and dry..)

Either way, thank you again, and I hope to get even more good tips and such soon (^^)/

Thanks for the tips. I'll be using them in three weeks when I'm in Japan.

Yes as far as I know you give last name first. I would say follow as many of the "rules" as possible. Anything you mess up will probably be counted as a forigner mistake but its better to be safe than sorry. ya know?
