Hiring a car in Hokkaido - 08-08-2009, 09:40 AM

Hi there,

About 4yrs ago I hired a car in Hokkaido. I used Tocoo!

Back then it cost approx. 3000yen/day for 7days. I now wish to hire a similar car using tocoo! and its looking more like 7000yen/day. Is that to be expected now? Is there any cheaper way of hiring a car because that is quite a large jump in price.

thanks!

I hired a car for 1 month on a 3000yen a day base just 3 months ago, but it will be more on a weekly/daily basis. i can only recommend you to try and get a K-Jidosha wich is a car with a small engine (660ccm) and a yellow sign. They are often alot cheaper and if you take a Van you will have enough space (i have been sleeping in one).
On a montly base Toyota rentalcar was alot cheaper than the other companys, on a daily base they are nearly the same.
Good luck

I believe a day for a K-Jidosha was around 5000yen (wich depends where in japan you will be).
