Travel to Japan Dec 25 - Jan 2 - 09-06-2007, 03:34 AM

I'm planning on visiting Japan from Dec 25 - January 2 this year. Is this a good time to go? Will the shops, restaurants and temples be closed because of the New Year?

We plan to visit Tokyo and Kyoto.

Thanks!

Dec. 25 it will hard to go out, as that is a romantic holiday in Japan. The rest of the week is fine, but Dec. 31-2 will be a little hard.

25 isn`t the romantic holiday - the 24th is.
Either way, Japan shuts down most of the way around New Year`s... So it would actually be one of the worst times to visit. Not to mention travel in Japan is incredibly crowded and expensive during that week. Everyone is either heading to relatives`, or heading home.

I strongly suggest choosing a different week to visit.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

be quit honest wait into the year a little and then u get to do everything since it's all open. i'm sure w/ christmas and new years going on the temples will be closed and the stores will be closed for the holidays. also waiting later on into the year gives u a less chance of being caught up in the holiday rush at both the stores and the airport.
