art scene

I have been living in Saitama for 2 months, have 2 months to go, and I would like to know if anyone here knows about any kind of meetup or club in the Tokyo area for artists or art lovers.

The only art related event I've been to so far is Art Fair Tokyo.

I am particularly interested in working alongside Japanese artists, and perhaps collaborating on small projects or something while I am still here.

The Tokyo Art Beat website lists most of the art events in Tokyo. If you really want to meet up with artists and people interested in art in Tokyo, your best bet might be to simply look up some upcoming art openings at galleries you find interesting. Show up at the openings and introduce yourself to a few people. Once you meet a few people, you will meet more and more.

Tomio Koyama has an opening coming up in a couple of weeks, but there are others at smaller galleries every week in Tokyo.

Good luck!

hey guys, do you know about art scene in Osaka? Please share your experiences with me. Is there any art critique courses in English in Osaka? Thanks in advance!

there is one cool gallery in asakusa bashi or kodemacho or bakuroyokoyama called Motus Fort. They have a mix of Japanese artists and American ones too. The director is a little intense, rigorous but generous. Besides the good artists are always very demanding. Unfortunately the good artists in Japan are all leaving to catch some of that rigor that is so lacking.
