It says

Here are some dictionary definitions for you:

連 れん
(n,abbr) (taxonomical) tribe; quinella (quiniela); party; company; group; two reams (i.e. 1000 sheets of paper)

I think in this case (as a stand alone) it may refer to Muraji title.

Muraji - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Either way, it is an odd tattoo.

Not really - the definition given up there for it is a bit off though. I have to raise my eyebrows at a dictionary that gives a list that doesn`t even include the most common meaning.

It`s 運, as in luck. My guess is they got it to mean luck or lucky. Possibly destiny - as I`ve heard of people getting tattoos and shortening 運命 to just 運.

It`s one of the common ones in those "kanji for tattoo" lists.

you mistake 運 for 連 and so did the tatooist.

Hahaha...
That one did get me.
I automatically read it as 運 because that`s the typical one for a tattoo.

99.999% chance that is what was intended.

....
Even more embarrassing as I have a friend with 連 in their name...
