I have a signed print of one of his paintings...
Who IS the artist Nyoro-san? It's not the guy who does the mad smiley daisies right?

Also i'm kicking myself. I HAVE a picture of the original in a book on my shelf; http://storage.canalblog.com/84/98/347638/29578754.jpg

You will probably recognize his stuff - here.

He has had some really huge exhibitions, and I believe even has some large scale art installations in New York.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

which proves that people tend to relate to art through a heart of their pocket.

sad innit.

lol Columbine, it happens to me while I am studying calligraphy. I know I saw this kanji before, also wrote it gazillion times, but for the love of Buddha I can't recollect its meaning.

I think i need more RAM, or ... Geriavit.

as Sashimister pointed out, the real artist is
昇亭 北寿(しょうてい ほくじゅ、宝暦13年(1763年) ?‐文政7年(1824年)以降)は、江戸時代後期の浮世絵 である。 (from WIKI)

and the vandal was

奈良 美智
Yoshitomo Nara

You do realize that he didn`t draw on the original, correct?
It was on to a print - nothing was "vandalized", really.

Oh, the Grumpy Little Girl artist~ Yes, I do recognize his works. I've not seen much on it in the UK, but i think you're right and it's had some considerable exposure in the USA.

Well, look at Damien Hirst- he sells art for millions of pounds that he himself hasn't actually touched. He just designs them now and gives it to his students to actually make.

Which is why Hirst is frequently compared to Warhol.

I think if you can make a name for yourself and make money from the art world while not touching a thing - more power to you.

I've been a fan of Nara's since I bought my first Shonen Knife album in 1998.
