Trying to find original of this Japanese Painting

This was a project in my class and I want to see a bigger picture of it, and what it looked like before it was drawn over. Unless that is actually how it is suppose to look like... But I would like to see a larger (possible color) picture... Thank you

It is however, cribbed off of the style of Hokusai's series of views of Mt. Fuji.

it is also a kitsch

"cribbed off" - thanks Columbine, I've learned another piece of English :)

When I have read what you wrote, I looked at that painting once more, and I wondered if a word "creeped off" would me more suitable lol :D

It's weird. I don't like it much either.

Glad to have taught you something!

The original is by 昇亭北寿 (Shoutei Hokuju), a disciple of Hokusai.

And this didn't come from my knowledge; It's stated at bottom right of the drawing. :)

so in other words some freak painted it over? 奈良 美智? I can't believe it sells for 2 grand lol...

Neither can I, but this kind of thing happens in all forms of art, I guess.

He`s a world famous artist, not just some random guy. While I wouldn`t call that pic something representative, the other stuff he is famous for is probably the reason for the high price.

I have a signed print of one of his paintings...
