Giant Gundam - 11-07-2010, 02:52 PM

Hey, a while ago they built a Giant Gundam in Tokyo because of some anniversary or so.

Is that Gundam still standing or was it just a temporary thing that they later teard down?

Same one. It was in Odaiba, Tokyo, but they tore it down and rebuilt it in Shizouka, now equipped with a sword.

So basically, it's not in Tokyo anymore, but it's still standing.

oh wow, I was so sad I missed it because I couldn't get to Japan last year, had no idea they had rebuilt it elsewhere. Can't believe I didn't hear about that

Anyone know if it will still be there in June?

*edit*
just googled it will come down in March ;_;

Will they rebuild it again somewhere else?
I will be visiting Japan around at the end of July.

They re-built it in Shizuoka for the hobby fair that runs until March. It takes a while to tear down and rebuild, so I'm not sure when it will be available again. I doubt they'll scrap it, seeing as it's a tourist attraction (made ME get off at higashi-shizuoka station!) I bet it will be erected elsewhere, but I have no idea where it would go next.

I hope I get to see it in person. I would love to take a picture with that Gundam in the background
But I guess time will tell.

For a 1000 yen you can pose in front of it on a raise platform and they'll take your photo with their camera and hand you an 8x10 photo and also take a photo with your camera.
