Smile Yoshitomo Nara :) - 04-01-2011, 02:52 AM

I'm a fan of Yoshitomo Nara. When I was based in New York last year I randomly bought a postcard book at The Strand with his paintings and then I learned he was a japanese artist. It got me quite interested about japanese contemporary art.

I am going to Tokyo this month and was wondering if anyone knows of a place dedicated to him or if he has any galleries and stuff. It's be nice to put in my itinerary as I am just gonna randomly explore too. My only aim is to see cherry blossoms, get colorful shots on my lumix and see more art actually.

Thanks in advance!

The one-man show just ended on March 21.
It is a stricken area though there is a possibility to be able to see if it is a museum in his birthplace.

Here is a consolation plan! Go to A to Z cafe in Aoyama. You may get to sit at one of these tables.

Your Japanese proficiency shall be in direct proportion
to your true interest in the Japanese Mind.

Nara was withdrawn from the project of A to z.
However, some works keep remaining in the shop and it doing business.
It can do nothing but visit an art museum to see a lot of works because he doesn't have the gallery.
Whether the work is established permanently is not understood.
I think that you should inquire in mail when going to see.

oh I see... oh well..maybe I'll try researching more. Aoyama seemed like easier to go to than his hometown.
