Tokyo Artists To Watch: Yokouchi, Yanagimoto, Chiba, Saeki

July offers several new exhibitions of emerging Japanese artists worth checking out in Tokyo. The Japanese artists with currect shows worth mentioning are Kentaro Yokouchi, Akiko Yanagimoto, Masaya Chiba, and Hiroe Saeki.

At Kenji Taki Gallery until Aug. 4 are elegant dye-painted works by Kentaro Yokouchi. Another young emerging artist showing potential is 29-year- old Akiko Yanagimoto whose works are showing at the Yuka Sasahara Gallery, also until Aug. 4.

Attracting international attention is painter Masaya Chiba, now showing recent paintings and drawings at the Tokyo Wonder Site, Shibuya gallery until Aug. 19. The intricately penciled drawings of Hiroe Saeki are on display until Sept. 9 in a group exhibition at the Meguro Museum of Art.
