Murakami to re-launch Japanese art fair in Florida

Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami is famous for his art and also for his Japanese artist management company as well as for running the GEISAI art fairs in Tokyo. His artist management company, Kaikai Kiki, works with many of the top names in Japanese contemporary art like Yoshitomo Nara, Aya Takano, and Chiho Aoshima.

Murakami has just announced that he will be taking the Tokyo GEISAI art fair and holding it in the United States in Miami, Florida, this December.

This is from the website of Kaikai Kiki:

Six years since the first inception of GEISAI in Japan in the summer of 2001, Kaikai Kiki announces GEISAI Miami, the American debut of a fair that has been a launch pad into the art world for many young artists. Running concurrently with Art Basel Miami Beach and hosted by PULSE Contemporary Art Fair, GEISAI Miami will premier in America in December 2007.

Application is open to artists and students of all nationalities who do not have ongoing commercial gallery representation. A jury of art world professionals will select approximately 15 - 20 participants from among the applicants who will be given the chance to present their work at GEISAI Miami.
