Japanese garden - 10-29-2007, 06:14 PM

Hey whats going on? been awhile since my last post. Anyway in my spare time I actually like doing landscaping for family and friends. I just finished making a koi pond for my father, i'll post pics later, but anyway he has an area behind that house that is 20 feet by 20 feet, any ideas on what to build. I love japanese gardens but don't know were to start, pictures or suggestions would be awesome, peace

I don't know if there are already topics about Japanese gardens. (Have you checked that yourself?). Maybe this book can be helpfull: Amazon.com: Japanese Gardens (Taschen 25th Anniversary): Books: Gunter Nitschke

A simple search on Google will give you lots of pictures also.
I very much liked the rock garden of the Kongobu-ji in Koyasan. And the Korakuen Gardens in Okayama could also give you some inspiration?

I hope this helps a bit.

If you can't grow an entire Japanese garden, try a small version. Buy a weeping mulberry or a Japanese maple. Plant it so it is the focal point. Put some white pebbles around it, add a few big rocks here and there and maybe add a small fountain. This is not a special style or kind, just a bit of the idea in your own landscaping.

The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies...!
