The girls from the EGG magazine are pretty, but their clothes just look more typically American and the fact that their hair is blonde and skin is tanned kind of heightens that.

I prefer it when Japanese people are more true to their own styles and cultures. I love the outfit of the girl on the far right of the third page from the CUTiE magazine that you posted!

Great post though...I'll definitely have to get a magazine or two from those sites. :)

The clothes are certainly more western but I can't say that EGG magazine is American style. It really depends on what the trend is at the time, what the feature is etc.

Ganguro's are infamous for their tanned skin and light hair, but it's not the only way to dress. I will post some scans of EGG's Hiromi Endo (Ganjiro); dark hair and pale skin.

Cool, thanks, I'd definitely like to see some of the dark hair pale skin ones from EGG.
And all the styles are really interesting anyway!

Hooray! Thank you :pandahurray: I especially like the girl on the last page - her hair is really nice and full without being too crazy and the clothes are great too! What would that style be called?

All the scans feature Hiromi Endo (my favourite EGG model).
That style is Ganjiro, where the girls follow the Ganguro trend but do not tan themselves, in fact they try to keep their skin naturally pale.

Lol thank you for educating me :p Its interesting how the styles and their names have many slight variations! Do you know the literal translations of those words at all?

LOL yeah ^_^
Ganguro basically means 'black face' or some say 'exceptionally dark' whereas Manba is a Japanese folklore mountain hag o_O

Shopping from Japanese Fashion Magazines

I do all my shopping through (w w w.japangoodsfinder . com)
You can virtually order anything from Japan, and they will send it in less than 3 days. I have bought many cute bags from them , I recommend it. Hope this information will help you.
