No.
You just can't tell the difference because you've never lived there and are not used to the people.
Walk in a room of people who are black or white or mexican if you're not used to any of those then instead of one guy being Joe and the other Josh, to you it's a cluster of whatever race is in the majority.

Also most of the Japanese aren't these beautiful stars.
Stars, especially in the same group, make it a point to be very alike because they are the leaders of " trends".
You can easily see distinction from regular person to regular person in even the cosplay pics offered on this site.

I love every style from Japan. I can't just pick one. But if you were asking "Which of these styles look best on you?", I'd say punk.

Why isn't Gyaru listed?
I think gal is more popular and common than any of the styles listed. The "normal" pics came pretty close to gal, but I don't think they were quite gal enough. :/
Gyaru needs more love in places like this...
