Calling all Hardcore Harajuku Girls!
 
Hey there! My name is Roxei, and I am at the moment, working on an art portfolio for addmission to Art School. I have chosen to do a study on the fantastic Harajuku culture that has influenced me greatly. Although Gwen Stefani has brought a few elements of it to europe, it just isn't....REAL y'know? I am writing to ask if there are any real genuine Harajuku girls out there in Japan that are on this forum, if they would allow me to chat with them and learn about Harajuku, I need to do a lot of research for this study and I would LOVE to speak to some real harajuku girls about it and learn more. I really would appreciate anyone coming forward and saying hi :) Please don't be shy, I would also love to make some friends too! LOL its not all work! :D I really would be so grateful if anyone could spare the time to chat to me. :)

it's more like the makers of Harajuku Lovers (my favorite brand of accessories ;) ) which actually takes things that would be seen in Harajuku and puts it into their items C:
Harajuku Lovers brand is by Gwen Stefani, though.

I found it quite fitting for a person to say "I don't think Gwen Stefani brought anything to Harajuku style" then right after say they like a brand of clothing in that style which is later shown to be owned *by* Gwen Stefani.

The basic idea being MissHoneybeeee likes the clothing line while not thinking the owner of the clothing line represents the style in any way. A successful separation of the person from the product. Marketing at its finest.

And that is not meant in a dismissive, sarcastic way either. The training I've taken enables me to examine such things in more detail than I previously could.

Oh, well, then it would be more suited to quote her comment, then, and not my own. xD But I agree. Though I do feel that Gwen Stefani does represent her brand, she often sings about it and does a LOT of promotion of it. But I don't feel actually that the 'Harajuku Lovers' brand is much like the Harajuku style it appears to be aiming for, seemingly Decora. It doesn't look much like it in my opinion, but I still like the styles.

isnt really anything like how
people dress in harajuku.
the clothes are nice but pretty boring
