Hmmm....
Well, I'm my last year in middle school.
Just one more term, but still.
Though, my mind is so not middle school-y. I lost my innocence AGES ago. Screw pink.
Except if it's with black. :P
Hnn, they even made an ad about me inte paper once, about me having the brain of a 16-year-old. It's sort of annoying how people talk to me like if I'm retarded because I'm so young.
Back to your problem;
It all depends on how your school is.
This year, I've started to wear goth-ish clothes to school, and, well...
The girls stare at me(and my UBER COOL SPIKY HAIR) and whisper, the guys throw in mean comments in the beginning.
My friends were all "WHOA, Vanessa, what are you WEARING!?"
But I told them that it's my choice, and if they're not comfortable with the way I dress, screw them.
Well, I gave my classmates some time, and well, no more mean comments or stares.
They sort of got used to how I dress.
So if you're planning on bringing Lolita to your school (GO YOU!), take it slow, and start clothes with a little darker colours. I had to do that... But it'll be fine in the end if tackled in the right way. ^^
I'm happy now, and even some of my friends were gothic lolita clothes, and we never get mean comments anymore. If there's a new kid, sure they keep distance at first, but if given time, they'll realise we are the way we are.

And now:
GOOD LUCK WITH BRINGING LOLITA TO YOUR SCHOOL, HUN. 8D

They are quite intolerant of subcultures XD I think.
I actually did cry when I saw that on the news. I think of all the abuse I've got over the years. I've been in situations where I could have been her. It just makes me sick and I feel awful for all her friends and family.

you can do what you want, wear what you want, But if it compromises your safety, for gods sakes, don't do it. But it will rarely lead up to that, so just wear what you want.

i agree with most of the posters here, expressing yourself freely would be accepted if we lived in an ideal world, but sadly it isn't. I'll give an simple example from my own life.. during middle school i had a real hard time trying to find my own style and was constantly bugged about it, people have a hard time to accept anything that is different for the simple reason that they are scared for the thing they do not know, but i admire people who endure it and are true to themselves, like my own sister.

Basically the best you could express yourself the best if you wear clothes you feel good in...you don't even need to keep to one style like me XD and be proud of who you are ...

hope this helps ...

Lolita is part of a culture that not many will understand unless they know something about it. Obviously the people at your school don't and that makes it hard for them to understand.
I'd say dressing up as a Lolita belongs in the category of a hobby or what one does during free time. Not as a school uniform.

Truth is harsher than fiction, it's a sad world.
