aside from the hairstyle, i think it's the dress style and color. examples are floral style, red clothing, "Sailor Girl" themed dresses like that.
i don't know if i answered your question but maybe it'll give you a little idea ..

Yes they look nice in their traditional fashio statement but they look better in western fashion too.

The uniqueness. theres a word in thai that literally translates into 'sour' but means pretty much "bold". and that what asian fashion is. lyk comparing a cart on the street in thailand's clothes to lyk hollister ill be more interesting.
fer japanese fashion i think harajuku and anime/manga and music(lyk j-rock and stuff)

What are the factors that promotes Asian Fashion?

Originally, their strict traditional culture made the new generations of Japanese kids to rebel against it. I think when everybody around you are really conservative and uniformed, it makes people sick of being similar to everyone else. So, to break that old culture, the new generations came out with outrageous, bright clothing styles to express their individuality and that not everyone is alike. From then on, I guess that's what people were so facinated about: having guts to show the kind of crazy cool looks which nobody has worn before from the rest of the world. Their rebellious actions became to known as the "cornerstone of fashion." An analogy I can think of right now is like how a girl came out from a strict, Christian family background to become a porn star. No offense~ and no I don't watch porn. I saw this documentary or an interview on regular (no cable) tv.

I think they also do this:

Perception that: Japanese fashion = anime cosplay (What my parents/aunts/uncles thought of)
