Janome umbrella - 01-20-2009, 03:32 AM

Would this be weird for an American(or anyone else) to have?
(I'm thinking of buying one, since I saw them at cdjapan.)

They're less expensive here, by about $60.

I imagine it would something cool to have, but you'd probably get some strange looks if you left the house with it. I personally think they're lovely.

Yeah, you're probably right.

If I really didn't care though, I'd go out with it anyway. long as I had an outfit that went with it. I wouldn't want to be mis-matching.

same here. but for me it'd probably be out of clumsiness. I am that way, sometimes.

I am sure you know you can find Wagasa for MUCH cheaper than that. This are very high end (and very nice) but if you just want a Japanese parasol they are available for under 20 dollars.

I haven't done alot of comparison shopping, as I'm still in the thinking stages.

I don't want something cheap.

I don't want it just for ornamentation, either.

Being fair skinned and allergic to sunscreen, I typically take a parasol with me when I know I'll be outside for a while. Never a Japanese-styled one, but all the same. I get silly looks sometimes, but mostly compliments. I say go for it!

@ Tangram

(I'm fair-skinned too. I burn, then tan.
I didn't know it was possible to be allergic to sunscreen.)

Thank you.

Yes, I get rather bad hives when I apply just about any sunscreen. And I don't tan after burning. =( If nothing else, you can lie and use my situation as an excuse if someone's giving you funny looks!

(oh, yikes)
Yeah, I could do that.
It would take a while to save up for, though.
