Kimono! - 07-19-2009, 09:33 PM

A while back in time i made my own kimono out of my moms old curtains, it turned out pretty well considering it's my first ever homemade piece of clothing, its not completley correct, and with that i mean the Obi and the arms. i didn't really know how to make the obi, and the arms turned out completley wrong, but it looks like a kimono. I dont have a functioning web camera at the moment so i wont be able to post any pictures

If anyone have made their own kimono, or own a kimono can you please show it to me?

Get one from Ebay here:Vintage Kimono | Japanese Kimono | Kimonos For Sale

It is complicated to make kimono and Obi correctly.

My senior project was on the kimono actually.
For the visual side of the project, I designed one.

It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But I'm damn proud of it.

This was before I hand-stitched the collar on.

Sewing away~

For some reason I can't find pics of sewing the obi. Hmm. If I find them I'll come back and post them.

I have a real Japanese Kimono actually.
My moms friend had an exchange student stay at her house and she left her all these amazing Japanese items, so she gave it all to me.
I have a picture of me wearing it, if you'd like to see it.
:>

The true meaning of "I love you" has clearly lost it's meaning in this society. Actions speak louder than words.

God show me the way. <3

woah! You did such a good job raiS! That's sweetness!

@darksyn- You made that, right? If you did, that's pretty cool!

@Sunni- REALLY? That's interesting to make it out of curtains. I'd really love to see your kimono soon!

I have a "kimono" I guess. It's like a mini-one, I call it, that has a flowery pattern and it's very fun. I dress up and go out in public with it on and get it on tape to see people's faces. VERY amusing.

Thanks for reading!

My wife (she's a kimono teacher) and I think you did an amazing job! This is your first? Keep it up, kimonos are getting popular again and affordable ones will sell very easily.

If I was a ladyboy then I'd wear a kimono.

For forever she will wander, for forever she withholds; the Demon King is on his way, you’d best not be learned untold…
