The Lychee

I don't know if there are that many people out there that truly love to eat fruit, but i am one of them.
There is not a fruit that i don't like, and i like to think that i have sampled a lot of them, but my favorites if i have to choose would be the lychee and the raspberry.
However, to my supprise, lychees are not all that common! I first had a lychee when i was in second grade or something like that, and my dad was the one that brought a few home for me, I never considered where he got it but I eventualy realised that you don't even see them in most stores, and if you do they are super expensive!
I just recently got to visit my first asian market! Well I say recently but it was accualy a month or two ago, and walking down the first or second isle, i see cans, upon cans of lychees!! I went crazy to put it simply.
It only got better though! As I kept looking threw the store, I also found lychee sweets, and drinks!!
I honestly have no idea why americans don't eat more lychees!!
I LOVE LYCHEES!!!:rheart:

I've never eat it..
Maybe I should try!

:rheart: Yes! yes! yes! I love them. A Phở soup restraunt I like sells lychee juice. I drink so much I make myself sick.

In America seek out areas with larger Vietnamese populations, then you will find them with other produce. They may be labeled as
  • vải chi
  • lệ chi
  • Litchi (official USDA spelling)

Here in Sri Lanka this is called Rambutan.
It's a very tasty fruit.Introduced to our country from Malaysia.
But now it has come a part of money earning crop in our country.

I don't know if it's just me, or does anyone else think that lychees look like tini little raw chicken brests? With out the peel and seed, it just sort of deflates, and in my oppinion looks kinda like raw meat..... :D

lots of people think that fresh fruit is better than fruit from an can, i agree with that except with lychees... it's quicker to just munch them out of a can that to peel each one individualy and spit out the seeds
